Dr. Scholl’s Odor-X Odor Fighting Insoles

Picture of a removable insole that is designed for people with sweaty feet.

These insoles are perforated on the tops in order to create a little bit of air around your feet and will help prevent and remove odors from within your shoes.

Wearing removable insoles can be very helpful for a variety of reasons.

  •  Insoles can easily be taken out and dried separately. The insole will absorb the sweat during the day rather than your shoe.
  • You can rotate your insoles from day to day to get them 100% dry
  • The perforated material will help improve airflow within your shoes. This is only a minor benefit though.

Ventilation & Breathability

Having shoes that allow moisture and sweat to evaporate from within your shoes is the most important feature of any shoe that is suitable for sweaty feet. Many shoes today do not have much ventilation because of several reasons including:

  • Hiring cost of manufacture and/or design
  • Small consumer base
  • The shoe will not be as waterproof as conventional shoes

With that being said there are some decent shoes out there to pick from and we will get to that shortly.

Shoe Material & Construction

Some shoes have have a high amount of cotton used in their construction and this is something that you will want to avoid. Cotton absorbs sweat easily but will not let go of it. Cotton is also very hard to dry out in a short amount of time.

Material that will wick away the moisture from your feet is much better suited for people with sweaty feet. Materials like polyester, nylon , wool and Merino wool work much better than cotton because of several reason.

A few of these reasons are:

  • Better wicking ability
  • Dries out faster
  • Will resist absorbing odors
  • Better control body temperature

Rotate Your Shoes If Needed

If you have sweaty feet and your shoes are wet or even damp at the end of the day it is extremely important to let the dry thoroughly. If you put shoes on the next day and they have not dried out several thing will happen including:

  • Your feet will start off on the losing end of being dry since the shoes are still damp or wet.
  • Bacteria will be more prevalent in your shoes and can cause your shoes to stink and also can cause health issues.

If you can not get your shoes 100% dry by the next day then you are going to need at least two pairs of shoes so you can rotate the days that you wear them. This will allow you to have more time to get your shoes dried out properly.

How To Properly Dry Your Shoes When You Have Sweaty Feet

Getting your shoes dry is important as noted above. Here are a couple ways to speed up the drying process.

  1. Newspaper – Put balled up newspaper in your shoes to help absorb the moisture.
  2. Dryer – Open your the door on your dryer, place the soles against the door and then put the lace over the door to the outside. Close the door and turn on your dryer on low heat.
  3. Fan – Common sense but I thought it was worth a mention. Place your shoes in front of a fan.

Now if your feet sweat so much that your shoes are really wet at the end of the day or just want a fuss free method to dry your shoes out check out this shoe dryer. It may also be a good idea to use a removable insole that you can interchange daily.
